Corset Fit & Sizing Guide

Always check the size chart on the individual product page before ordering, as sizing can vary by brand and style. Take your measurements and compare them with the manufacturer's size chart rather than relying only on your usual clothing size.

For the best fit, measure while wearing little or no bulky clothing. Measure your natural waist at its narrowest point. For an overbust corset, also measure around the fullest part of your bust. Depending on the style, hip measurements may also be helpful. Keep the measuring tape comfortably snug without pulling it tight.

Not necessarily. Corset sizing can be different from standard clothing sizes and can vary between brands. Your measurements and the size chart listed for the specific corset are the best place to start.

If your measurements fall between sizes, check the measurements for the specific style before choosing. In many fashion corsets, sizing up may provide a more comfortable fit, but the best choice can depend on the corset's construction and how you plan to wear it.

Loosen the laces before putting the corset on. Fasten the front closure, then gradually tighten the laces from the top and bottom toward the waist, alternating sides to keep the tension even. Tighten a little at a time rather than pulling one section as tight as possible.

A gap at the back can be completely normal for a lace-up corset. Ideally, the edges should remain relatively even rather than forming an extreme V or uneven shape. The amount of space will vary depending on the corset, your measurements and how tightly you choose to lace it.

Your corset should feel secure and supportive, but it should not cause pain, numbness or difficulty breathing. Start comfortably and tighten gradually. You do not need to lace a corset as tightly as possible for it to look great.

It depends on the corset. Structured corsets may become more comfortable as they gradually conform to your body, while many fashion corsets don't require a formal break-in process. Follow any care or wear instructions provided for your specific corset.

An overbust corset extends over the bust and can often be worn as a top on its own. An underbust corset begins below the bust and is designed to be styled over or under another garment. The best choice depends on the look and level of coverage you want.

Corsets generally have more structured construction and are designed to shape and define the torso. Bustiers typically focus on supporting and enhancing the bust while creating a fitted silhouette. Construction varies by style, so check the individual product details for boning, closures and other features.
